An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Macallan Laboratory team to provide technical support to primary production through routine laboratory analysis as required by laboratory schedules.  The role provides additional technical support as required including surveys, support for problem solving, reviewing technical work instructions and ensuring laboratory instrumental checks are carried out.  Also perform analytical methods including GC, HPLC and wet-chemistry techniques with a view to continuous improvement of technical capabilities within the laboratory.

Reporting to the Laboratory Team Leader, key responsibilities for this role include:

  • To carry out routine analysis of production and research samples using specific test methods
  • Ensure the detailed steps of all Procedures and Test Methods are correctly executed.
  • Correctly deal with OOS results, confirm the result and follow procedures to deal with any NC.
  • Ensure all OOS or NC work is correctly escalated as detailed in the departmental procedures.
  • Complete tasks assigned from laboratory meetings and 1-2-1’s as per timelines set out by Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Prioritise routine and research work to operate efficiently in a small technical team.
  • Project work and process improvements for lab methods and procedures
  • Integrity of laboratory results by participation in proficiency testing schemes

To succeed in this role you will have a scientific qualification (HNC minimum). You will have significant experience in laboratory technical skills including GC and HPLC, experience of drinks industry, company products and analytical method development experience/troubleshooting is preferred.  Proficient IT skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritise with strong communication and organisational skills.
