Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager for Eastern China, the Assistant Sales Manager is responsible for the management and delivery of the commercial objectives within the trade channels, through the sound leadership of a city level sales team coupled with an effective and collaborative partnership with our distribution partners in the designated city.

 

China is the leading growth market globally and is integral for the organization’s long-term success. The Assistant Sales Manager will support the implementation of the key city strategy and ensure the effective implementation of our commercial and operational strategy in priority trade channels, to ensure the successful delivery of business objectives.

Make an Impact

Commercial Responsibilities:
•    Deliver the achievement of budgeted volume and revenue across the portfolio of brands within the trade channels in the designated key city
•    Responsible for the leadership, management, development, and growth of the Guangzhou sales team  
•    Actively co-ordinate the business development process to identify and recommend new growth opportunities for the business
•    Lead and coach team members to execute the commercial strategy in line with the respective distribution channels to extract optimal distribution, volume and value growth 
•    Lead the implementation of commercial best practices at key city level to deliver optimal outcomes that resonate with the long-term strategy
•    Collaborate with the Trade Marketing team in the brand activation process to ensure that activity and campaigns are executed to plan
•    Accountable for the effective implementation of trade investment and ROI
•    Responsible for continuously leading the sales team to attain a high quality of distribution, visibility and markets share that delivers against the relevant brand positioning and objectives
•    Communicate, co-ordinate and implement commercial & brand strategies with key city distribution partners
•    Lead the effective collaboration with city and channel level distributors to ensure timely and effective activation of brand and trade campaigns
•    Establish, maintain, and enhance distributor relationship management at a local level to effectively manage a high performing distribution network
Operational & Reporting Responsibilities:
•    Consolidate, review and feedback market intelligence and consumer trends
•    Collaborate with Area Sales Manager to achieve optimal commercial performance at a local level through the effective utilization and prioritization of inventory and investment
•    Support the management of inventory and supply allocation to customers
•    Support sales teams with sales and trade investment related processes
•    Manage potential business risks and support the implementation of compliant operational processes

Your Talent and Skills

To succeed in this role you will have a versatile personality with a highly developed interpersonal skillset.  You will also have the following core capabilities:

•    Educated to a Tertiary level
•    Excellent interpersonal & communication skills; ability to inspire and influence
•    Fluent in spoken and written Mandarin (fluency in English will be advantageous)
•    Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
•    Enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-moving and international environment
•    Minimum of 5 years relevant commercial experience in consumer goods
•    Experience in managing teams
•    Distributor management experience
•    Sound commercial acumen
•    Trade marketing skills
•    Sound stakeholder management skills with internal and external customers
•    Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity whilst recommending appropriate actions and solutions
