Position Summary

The Market Manager manages all aspects of the assigned channel(s) within the territory, working closely with their Edrington counterparts and Distributor teams, to deliver short-term results and build long-term brand value.  Key pillars of the position include: Distributor Programming, Brand Building, Pricing Strategy. Success in the position will deliver (or over-deliver) against defined annual goals and continued exceptional growth of the Edrington brands including The Macallan, Highland Park, The Glenrothes, The Famous Grouse, Brugal Rum, Wyoming Whiskey, Noble Oak Bourbon and No. 3 London Dry Gin.

Job Description

  • The Off Premise Market Manager will spend approximately 30% of their time growing the business by working along side and in collaboration with our distributor partner and 70% with Key accounts.
  • Understand the strategic direction for the assigned territory across relevant channels and segments with emphasis on Macallan, Noble Oak, Highland Park and No.3 Gin.
  • Assist in communicating the Strategic Direction and Edrington priorities to Distributor Sales Teams at the local level. Instil belief and create buy-in throughout distributor teams.
  • Work effectively with Division Marketing team and Operations to deliver against the Strategic Imperatives of the organization, delivering exceptional in market results.
  • Drive leading global luxury and super premium brands to deliver yearly depletion and profit growth while simultaneously engaging in long term brand building activities.
  • Accelerate the growth of Edrington brands with emphasis on top 4 focus brands in the local market.
  • Cultivate new opportunities for a strong core business and optimize E-commerce programs and distribution.
  • Deliver against depletion targets, growing brand value to deliver the annual profit plan within Massachusetts.
  • Capture and report all trade and consumer interactions and activations in Go Spot Check. Analyze effectiveness of activities through reporting and impact capabilities.
  • Assist in building Edrington’s reputation as a recognized leader in the adult beverage industry by key stakeholders through clear communication, consistent engagement, and professional conduct.
  • Set an example for our people and deploy Edrington Leadership Standards on a daily basis.
  • Complete company administration requirements on time and regularly, including expense reports, weekly recaps, budget, T& E management, and daily e-mail responses
  • Inventory and point-of-sale (POS) management

  • Distributor Management: Build exceptional business relationships, drive brand focus, manage performance & delivery, and provide leading customer service.
  • Brand Building:  Put the consumer at the heart of the conversation, ensure local marketing plans are exceptionally executed, support all nationally lead activities at the local level, and act as an unwavering brand guardian to support brand health.
  • Trade & Consumer/Activation:  Develop, institute, execute and participate in brand events that align with brand strategy.
  • Pricing Management:  Understand the local pricing strategy and maintain an active awareness of competitive activity.
  • Supply Chain & Compliance:  Deliver against the allocation strategy, supporting exceptional customer service, and ensure legal compliance across the assigned territory.

Skills and Experience

Experience with premium/luxury brand building and/or commercial capabilities:

  • BS/BA or equivalent work experience  of 3+ years in a fast-growing FMCG environment; Alcohol Beverage Industry experience or luxury brand experience is highly desirable
  • Passion for super premium brown spirits (Scotch, Rum, Bourbon)
  • Motivated self-starter, gregarious personality, articulate, charismatic, polished, and professional
  • Ability to manage a broad network of internal and external partners
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set and a positive attitude when facing opportunities and challenges
  • Exceptional organizational & event production/management skills
  • Adept at networking, selling, and interacting with diverse groups of people
  • Use of Social Media (Facebook, Instagram) & technology where appropriate within Edrington policy
  • Ability to work independently, manage a personal schedule, think creatively
  • Role requires evening and weekend coverage – it is a full-time role with non-standard hours
  • Commercial experience is desired, marketing experience a plus
  • Experience and/or understanding of on/off premise channel environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Overnight travel required as needed to conduct job function
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
