Embrace Excellence

The Legal Assistant will report to Edrington Americas’ Associate General Counsel while also providing support to the Americas General Counsel and the Legal Compliance Manager. The Legal Assistant is responsible for providing a wide range of legal support and administration in areas primarily focusing on corporate law and alcohol beverage regulation and compliance.

Make an Impact

Legal Research & Trade Practice

  • Perform state-by-state legal research involving wide range of alcohol law matters, including sales, marketing and distribution programs, events, sweepstakes/contests, social media promotions, e-commerce and advertisements.
  • Work closely with other company departments, including sales and marketing, to provide quality and clear legal guidance.
  • Assist the legal team by drafting and reviewing sweepstakes rules, influencer agreements, advertisements, and other marketing compliance materials.
  • Review, draft and manage basic commercial contracts and provide support for the procurement team with respect to onboarding new vendors.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of departmental and company-wide legal trainings.
  • Review, monitor, and advise of new laws and regulations impacting the business.

 

Corporate Governance and Compliance

  • Maintain company business licenses, including those required under alcohol laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and review legal documents including company letters, meeting minutes and other corporate governance documentation.
  • Manage and organize database of legal files, corporate books and records, state business registrations/authorizations, permits, licenses, and applicable compliance and reporting materials.
  • Coordinate with the Compliance Manager with respect to state brand registrations, COLA submissions and waiver requests, and state product pricing and postings.

Your Talent and Skills

  • A strong academic record, evidenced by a bachelor’s degree (Law Degree, other relevant Post Graduate Degree preferred)
  • Equivalent work experience in the legal industry preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a large workload efficiently and effectively
  • A commitment to professionalism, integrity, and collegiality
  • Willingness to challenge and question assumptions
  • Highly detail-oriented, including the ability to assess and respond to underlying issues and implications
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
