The Accounting Analyst role will be responsible for handling day to day general accounting administration and taking charge of month end/year end closing process. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles. The ideal candidate needs to be capable of managing multiple priorities and ensuring internal and external deadlines are met. Ideal candidate must be able to communicate clearly with different groups within the company as well as outside of the company. The ideal person will be comfortable working in a lean structure and take initiatives and drive positive process changes across the business.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, key responsibilities include

 

  • Prepare journal entries for asset, liability, and income statement accounts and ensures completeness of procedures in month end closing process
  • Perform reconciliations with all accounts in general ledger and investigate accounting issues and other unusual items
  • Ensure that all journal entries and schedules are adequately documented and reviewed with appropriate sign offs in monthly key control checklist
  • Prepare annual capital expenditure plan and ensure fixed assets and depreciation are properly recorded and arrange annual physical count
  • Work closely with Finance Manager to prepare monthly reporting package during month end process and provide commentary for balance sheet accounts movements
  • Review inventory reconciliation prepared by operation team to ensure accuracy of inventory and revenue records
  • Prepare overheads reporting for the USA by tracking how actuals compare to budget and providing commentary on expenditures
  • Ensures consistent application of chart of accounts with global standards across all markets and departments
  • Interrogate key financial accounts and conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to ensure system generated transactions are maintained properly
  • Lead the A&P accrual process from beginning to end. Consolidate and prepare accrual information from Divisions and Brand teams to track accrual spending and provide critical business updates on the A&P spend progress. Evaluate the validity and accuracy of A&P accrual support provided by the commercial and brand teams. Assist the teams with the PowerBI tool to forecast A&P spending by category
  • Ensure that the Global A&P spend is accurate monthly by Liaising with the Global team
  • Manage the US Vendor set up process to ensure all proper documentation, due diligence, banking details and approvals are obtaine

Your Talent and Skills

To be successful in this role, you have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • 2-3 years’ experience in mid-large size corporate finance environment or public accounting firm
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to legally work in the USA
  • Located in the NY Metro Area
