Position Summary

The Commercial Finance Manager will partner with key departments across the Division in evaluating current business performance while identifying any future opportunities with recommendations on course of action to Senior Management. Underpinning this will be the ensuring of our continued focus and commitment towards our strategic initiatives. The Commercial Finance Manager should have the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across various levels and functions and must be able to work in a team.

Job Description

  • Build and foster a solid business partnership with the Commercial Team and all internal and external departments and stakeholders to drive business decisions that maximize our sales value 
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Business Unit strategy and facilitation of strategic alignment with key functions when necessary
  • Responsible for challenging and influencing the business to ensure initiatives are in line with Commercial strategy, acting as an extension of the head office
  • Own the Divisional planning cycle and monthly/quarterly S&OP forecasting processes and ensure accuracy
  • Lead the Divisional S&OP process, asking insightful questions into what is working and what is not with recommendation on course of action to Senior Leadership
  • Work with Division to develop and monitor monthly results, analyse key business & financial KPIs, uncover trends and assess current / future business & financial risks and opportunities to drive both top line and bottom line performance
  • Lead Commercial team towards production of monthly reported results with relevant commentary focusing on Shipments, Depletions, Sales, and Inventory.  Work with Commercial Team to produce forward looking views for both Divisional and Brand Profitability and coordinating with the Director of Strategic Finance to feed into consolidated US view
  • Perform deep interrogative analysis by Brand/Product, Division/State, and challenge Division to provide relevant insight into risks and opportunities for both short term and long- term planning and raise accountability for closing any gaps
  • Analyse market dynamics, pricing trends, market opportunities, operating and sales margins in order to drive value creation through; managing of monthly pricing analysis; managing the monitoring and influencing of Distributor inventory levels

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Finance or related field required, MBA preferred
  • Previous background experience in Finance or Accounting preferred
  • Experience in Spirits/adult beverage industry preferred but not required
  • 5-7 years of related experience with proven track-record working in finance/accounting analysis
  • Advanced MS Excel skills are required; strong knowledge of MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Cognos and SAP systems is must
  • Knowledge of SQL preferred
  • A strategic thinker with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Data driven and goal oriented, measuring success both quantitatively and qualitatively, and understanding the importance of both
  • Ability to execute on today's challenges while maintaining a forward-thinking mindset around where we'll be in six months, a year, and several years from now
  • Ability to independently drive projects; motivated to learn all aspects of our business
  • The ability to demonstrate leadership courage in order to set boundaries and ensure time is spent on the most critical/ high value projects
  • Ability to be a thought-partner with senior leaders
  • Ability to analyse key trends in financial information, financial modelling and P&L
  • Ability to demonstrate people management and leadership to influence management decisions through cross-functional collaboration
