Position Summary

The priority and focus of GTR is to Lead in Luxury Retail and build a leading portfolio of exceptional super premium spirits. The TR channel recovery requires even more focus on these objectives lead by our commercial team.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Assistant Account Manager will be a key part of the Americas Travel Retail. This includes the US, Caribbean, as well as Canada.

The purpose of the role is to improve the support on Retail channel (airports, border stores), assist the Commercial Manager in driving accelerated profit growth through key customer relationships, and building Edrington portfolio equity. The focus will be to coordinate customer relationships and brand plans, align with customer business, as well as secure operational excellence along with the highest level of in-store execution.

Job Description

  • Together with the Commercial Manager and peers, implement action plans to reach objectives in terms of turnover growth and profitability
  • Develop strong professional relationships with North America and Caribbean customers and agents, including the merchandising, sales, distribution, and finance teams.  Being their privileged business partner (space, stores visibility, activation plans)
  • Manage clients and BAs to ensure the highest standards of in-store execution
  • Gather, analyse, and coordinate information and tools available (ex. passenger traffic, industry trends and news relevant to the market, competition watch, domestic market plans and initiatives, etc.) to become an expert on the market and its key passengers
  • Ensure presence either in the field or virtual to the teams (internal and retailers) to maximise brand visibility at retail and ensure optimal execution at the point of sale
  • Maintain and oversee the rolling brand forecast (throughout the year), working closely with the Supply Chain Team
  • Consolidate monthly orders by working closely with clients and peers
  • Create customer facing presentations to communicate business strategies and updates along with new product launches
  • Monthly reporting on performance, competitor intelligence and business environment
  • Timely management and accurate tracking of invoices, A&P spending vs. budget vs. forecast
  • Proactively seek new profitable business opportunities

Skills and Experience

  • At least 3 years working experience in a Commercial role and Duty Free / Travel Retail experience is a plus as well as Luxury experience (major categories: Liquor, P&C, Watches, Fine Jewellery, Fashion)
  • Strong personality with highly developed interpersonal skill set, excellent relationship builder
  • Commercial acumen & able to demonstrate a successful track record in the achievement of targets & objectives
  • Must be passionate about brands and sensitive to the quality of brand execution
  • Strong influencing & negotiations skills to customers
  • A self-starter who leads by example
  • Thrives in high-pressure and autonomous role
  • Collaborative and strong ability to work cross functionally
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Must be open to travel (40-50% within region) and trade entertaining
  • BA Degree in Business Administration, or related fields
