Position Summary

Following the recent internal move, an exciting opportunity has arisen within Global Supply Chain for a Production Planning Manager. This is a key position within the Planning and Global Supply team. The role is responsible for delivering excellent customer service via integrated high-level Production Planning of all factory production lines and the Premium Pack and Finishing area. 


The Production Planning Manager will be responsible for identifying opportunities and risks in relation to capacity.  They will collaborate with several GSC teams including Purchasing, Manufacturing, Spirit Planning, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Packaging Technology and the Customer Service team.  From this collaboration they will pull together a clear view of demand (forecasts and orders) and supply (cross-functional capacity and constraints) and, based on this, create plans that will deliver excellent customer service.


Furthermore, this role will also be responsible for the identification and progression of Planning strategies and other continuous improvement activities to improve customer service performance.  Edrington’s Supply Chain is changing; our activities, priorities & measures must reflect our shift from FMCG to Prestige manufacturing & fulfilment.  Non-traditional channels such as DTC & Private Client require focus and improved delivery.  We are driven by quality and service and everything that we do must reflect this.  This position will play a pivotal role in developing Edrington’s Prestige Supply Chain.

Job Description

Day-to-day you will also be responsible for the following:

  • Managing of the Production Planning team ensuring production volumes are planned in-line with the defined processes
  • Creation of the production budget for Edrington to support the delivery of the financial budget
  • Responsibility for capacity planning; medium to long term (3-36 months) and short-term crisis capacity planning
  • Development of inventory policies to manage seasonal demand
  • Develop systems, measures, and reports to identify performance, risks, opportunities and areas of improvement
  • Review, improve and manage key delivery meetings including Weekly Planning meetings and monthly Collaborative Business Planning (CBP) meetings
  • Involvement in the New Product Development (NDP) process, supporting Global Supply Chain (GSC) departments as necessary
  • Continuous improvement on management and visibility of capacity requirements for more efficient procurement and resource planning
  • Collaboration with key stakeholders from Global Supply Chain, including Supply Planning, Whisky Supply Planning, Customer Service, Procurement, Brands Packaging and Manufacturing. Also, working closely with the Delivery Planning Manager and Business Units (BUs)
  • Drive continuous improvement activities with the team in relation to process and behavioural elements

Skills and Experience

You will have experience within a fast-paced business and end-to-end Supply Chain knowledge is desirable. We require you to have excellent organisational skills and strong influencing skills and be competent with Excel.  You must have sound knowledge of business systems (Integra SAP, Analysis for Office, etc.), with a passion for continuous improvement and appetite to challenge the status quo.  You must be competent with data and scenario planning and have a positive attitude and demeanour.  Strong communication skills with the ability to coach others is desirable and we would expect the successful candidate to be able to work with a cross-section of people from across the organisation.  Project management skills are also a requirement of the role.
