This role plays an important part in supporting whisky production through routine laboratory analysis and technical support, ensuring the quality and consistency of our premium products. Working as part of a small, collaborative team, you will carry out testing, investigate results, and contribute to continuous improvement across the laboratory and production environments.
Make an Impact
We are seeking a proactive Laboratory Analyst to support quality control and research activities by delivering accurate analytical testing and ensuring compliance with established methods and procedures. The role involves investigating out-of-specification results, supporting production teams with technical problem-solving, and utilising techniques such as gas chromatography and wet chemistry. You will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, managing consumables and stock levels, and clearly communicating results through reporting. In addition, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, project work, and provide support across wider laboratory operations as required.

To be successful in this role, a scientific qualification at HNC level or above in a relevant discipline is required, along with previous laboratory experience. You should have strong practical lab skills, a good understanding of analytical techniques, and the ability to prioritise work in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft 365, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential, along with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Experience in food and drink, distilling or manufacturing, familiarity with GC or wet chemistry, experience with systems such as LIMS or Q-Pulse, and exposure to quality or continuous improvement environments would be advantageous.
