Remuneration and Package

  • Annual Salary:  £31,200 - £39,000 plus 20% shift allowance
  • Hours:   37.5 per week

Position Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Global Supply Chain for the role of Team Leader – Manufacturing (Classic/Prestige) on Backshift.  We are looking for an ambitious individual who will drive the Edrington Operational Excellence Strategy and contribute to the success of Global Supply Chain’s journey to Prestige and Manufacturing Industry Excellence recognition.  As we focus more on premium and luxury, we are at the beginning of our journey towards being recognised for World Class Manufacturing service and quality levels, therefore, require someone who is passionate about building and delivering Operational Excellence and wants to be part of something exciting and challenging.

 

Reporting to the Production Support Manager – Classic or Prestige, this role is responsible for successful daily operational management and leadership within our manufacturing site, in conjunction with other department first line managers (Planning / Whisky Supply / Engineering / Logistics). The role of Team Leader is responsible for the efficient and effective running of our bottling hall operation, delivering product to the quality, quantities and service levels required to meet the requirements of our customers. This role is accountable for the leadership of a core team of operators (Circa 15+) to drive ownership of the lines/workload and achieve shipment targets, whilst reducing the overall cost per case through great management and operational excellence on their lines and areas of responsibility. This role must ensure work is carried out in a safe manner, complying with all relevant regulations, and promoting a health & safety culture at all times. 

Job Description

  • Overall responsibility for key areas in production and a team of operators
  • Understand customers and brand strategic and operational requirements, and work towards meeting them through development and implementation of the Manufacturing strategy - OTIF
  • Ensure all Good Manufacturing Practice Standards and area targets are understood and worked towards
  • Ensure labour resources are in line with budget and utilisation
  • Drive team ownership, engagement and involvement in Tier 1 meetings
  • Participate in Tier 2 meetings and activities
  • Compile and track departmental KPIs
  • Escalate all relevant action to Tier 2 meetings
  • Communicate with team on all business, GSC, site or department updates as required
  • Communication with planning team to agree daily / weekly targets
  • Attend all relevant planning meetings to ensure all future requirements are captured
  • Regularly review plan with production management to determine manning requirements
  • Attend and facilitate Continuous Improvement meetings identified from Tier 1 meetings or larger CI projects as required
  • Quality Management
  • Work with line team and Quality / Procurement teams to ensure standards in terms of materials and finished goods are understood and managed
  • Champion the application of the Good Manufacturing Practice Policies
  • H&S / Food Standard / Quality / Environment
  • Support and participate in annual stock check

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will Lead by example to set behavioural standards for themselves and team, aligned to GSC/Manufacturing OPEX standards, systems and strategy.  They will strategically & tactically work at the line to promote best practice and standards to create culture of high performing teams across manufacturing.  The successful candidate must ensure alignment and delivery of work with regular team meetings to discuss performance and priorities using current Tier meetings and management systems.
