Embrace Excellence

The Cask Operations Team plays a critical role in delivering exceptional quality liquid for The Macallan single malt scotch whisky. As part of our strategy we have invested in 4 companies across the US and Spain; Coopers Oak, Tevasa Forestal Group, Vasyma and Grupo Estévez.

The Junior Controller will be responsible for supporting financial operations, with a focus on financial accounting, controls, treasury management and compliance. The role will be key in ensuring that financial processes and policies are adhered to, and that our newly incorporated entity, The Macallan Sherry Cask Company, operates compliantly.

Make an Impact

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepayments, adjustments)
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity
  • Lead transactional finance team with oversight of AR, AP and day-to-day banking
  • Assist in cashflow monitoring and working capital management
  • Monitoring and documentation of internal controls and processes
  • Embed new finance processes including the introduction of a new P2P system
  • Prepare and submit regulatory filing requirements
  • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and automation
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors where appropriate 

Your Talent and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will be fluent in both Spanish and English and have experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems, including modules such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets. You will possess strong financial accounting knowledge, including close processes, journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations, alongside a solid understanding of internal controls, compliance, regulatory filing, and audit requirements. Knowledge of treasury and cashflow management, including banking and working capital monitoring, is also essential. You will demonstrate advanced Excel capabilities and strong analytical, reporting, and reconciliation skills, as well as experience improving finance processes through P2P workflows, standardisation, and automation. Additionally, you will have people management experience with the ability to work cross-functionally and across regions, maintain strong attention to detail and control awareness, and confidently manage complexity to tight deadlines while effectively partnering and communicating with non-finance stakeholders.
