This role is part of a team of 2 Process Engineers, responsible for all engineering activity for the malting, distillation and maturation plants at Highland Park Distillery. The purpose of this role is to provide engineering support and be responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of all process plant and equipment.

Make an Impact

  • Carry out maintenance, repair, reinstatement and commissioning of all plant and equipment, including planned preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and condition‑based monitoring to minimise disruption to operations.
  • Support capital projects and improvement works, including installation activities, efficiency and productivity recommendations, and reliability‑centred maintenance initiatives.
  • Plan and manage workload effectively, ensuring safe systems of work are in place (Permits, Isolations, RAMS), completing job cards, work orders and maintenance schedules accurately and on time.
  • Ensure full compliance with engineering and safety standards (COMAH, DSEAR, PUWER, HAZOP), identifying, correcting and resolving defects and compliance deficiencies.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, production teams and specialist contractors, providing clear handovers, feedback and support to ensure smooth delivery of maintenance and project activities.
  • Participate in a 1‑in‑4, 24‑hour on‑call rota, support continuous improvement workstreams, undertake ongoing training, and carry out tasks delegated by Engineering Team Leaders.

Your Talent and Skills

To be successful in this role you will be a multi‑disciplined Electrical Maintenance Engineer with a strong understanding of mechanical tasks, supported by the completion of a recognised electrical/engineering apprenticeship and a minimum of five years’ experience applying these skills in a demanding environment. You will ideally hold an HNC/HND qualification and have a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation, such as IOSH Managing Safely, with an understanding of statutory H&S and environmental requirements. Beneficial qualifications include BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, COMPEX Ex01‑04 and Ex05‑06, and a working knowledge of process control systems. You will be IT literate, capable of using maintenance and business systems daily, and physically able to handle tools and equipment as part of an active role. A strong team player, you will also be able to work unsupervised, adapt to continuous improvement environments and service level agreements, and communicate effectively. Competence in Permit to Work systems, CMMS, and contractor control is required, alongside excellent problem‑solving skills and an innovative approach when appropriate. You will be honest, self‑motivated, reliable, and demonstrate a friendly, professional manner, with a full clean driving licence essential to enable travel between sites for work and training.

We’ve put together some criteria that we think is important for this role, but don’t worry if your experience and expertise isn’t an exact match. If you feel that you can add value to our role and to Edrington more broadly, we would welcome your application and be eager to learn more about you.
