Embrace Excellence
The purpose of this role is to assist with the scheduling and coordination of Macallan Warehouse and Cooperage operations plus cask movements in and out of other Edrington operational sites, and third-party cooperage subcontractors. The Maturation Operations Planning assistant will co-ordinate logistics directly through freight and haulage partners where appropriate and work closely with the Macallan Stock Planning team, warehouse operations, wider cask supply team (including Spanish operations), group logistics, distillery sites and strategic planning roles. The role holder will ensure efficient operations scheduling on the Macallan Estate and efficient movement of casks and spirit between sites. This is a fixed term 12 month contract.
Make an Impact
- Collaborate with the wider operations team to deliver excellent quality and service to plan.
- Support with interpreting and combining short to medium term plans from different stakeholders, ensuring practical and efficient logistics.
- Support with scheduling workload for cask shed team and highlight any concerns or issues regarding available resource and progress against plan.
- Support with scheduling workload for warehouse team, fully utilising both shifts, and highlight any concerns regarding available resource or progress against plan.
- Plan and arrange cask despatches and receipts to/from third party and group sites.
- Schedule incoming sherry cask container deliveries from Spain, avoiding demurrage costs where possible.
- Support planning of daily cooperage operations and support Delivery Planning Manager to ensure storage space for full and empty casks optimised. This includes monitoring useable warehouses and available vacuity.
- Liaise with group operational sites to establish source of fillable casks.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all mature and NMS tankers/cask loads are optimally scheduled.
- Attend planning meetings with the Cooperage and Warehousing team leaders.
Your Talent and Skills
You will have experience within a scheduling, planning, or logistics environement, as well as a keen awareness of health and safety standards. We're looking for someone with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel and Power BI. Your strong planning, organizational, and communication skills will be essential, as will your ability to multitask effectively within established processes. You should possess excellent problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills, and have experience working in a complex, fast-paced environment. While knowledge of the whisky industry is advantageous, it is not essential. Attention to detail is crucial, particularly in accurate record-keeping and data entry. We value self-motivation and the ability to take ownership of tasks.
