Embrace Excellence

An exciting opportunity has emerged to join The Macallan Laboratory, where the role provides essential technical support for primary production through routine laboratory analyses as per the laboratory schedules. This role also involves offering additional technical assistance, including conducting surveys, aiding in problem-solving, reviewing technical work instructions, and ensuring the completion of laboratory instrumental checks. Furthermore, the role performs analytical methods such as GC, HPLC, and wet-chemistry techniques, all aimed at continuously improving the laboratory's technical capabilities.

Make an Impact

Reporting to the Research and Lab Project Lead, the key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Conducting routine analysis of production and research samples using specific test methods
  • Ensuring the detailed steps of all procedures and test methods are correctly executed
  • Handling OOS (Out of Specification) results, confirming the results, and following procedures to address any NC (Non-Conformance)
  • Escalating all OOS or NC work as detailed in the departmental procedures
  • Completing tasks assigned from laboratory meetings and one-on-one sessions within the timelines set by the Laboratory Supervisor
  • Prioritising routine and research work to operate efficiently within a small technical team
  • Engaging in project work and process improvements for lab methods and procedures
  • Maintaining the integrity of laboratory results by participating in proficiency testing schemes

Your Talent and Skills

To succeed in this role, you will have a scientific qualification (to HNC minimum) or equivalent experience in laboratory technical skills ideally including GC and HPLC. Ideally you have experience working in the drinks industry and handling company products. You have proficient IT skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritise with strong communication and organisational skills.
